You're not alone. Even though, companies like Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon keep on growing. The interest of the public in more ethical alternatives is as well. I at least noticed this shift in my own life, and with people around me.

Even though most people (I meet), don't know enough, understand enough, or simply, don't want to know enough. The idea of having your private information, out in a digital auction, for software companies and their algorithms to bid on, seems kinda scary to most.

Does that mean we have to give up every bit of convenience these services offer us? Absolutely not. Does it mean we should spend some money so I can make use of software that does not use me as a driving force against myself, this planet, or employees with under minimum wages? Probably. It's how those companies survive. It's how anyone survives. Why would it be different when we take our information from the physical to the digital world?

Keep It Simple Stupid

Switching from big Tech shouldn't be hard. Most people don't want to go through hours and hours of searching for the perfect alternative. So I made a list. A simple one. I call it kaizenware.org.

What makes kaizenware.org different?

There are a lot of lists of ethical products online. Ethical.net, switching.software and others. Those, indeed, are all great projects. So why make yet another list? To be honest, it started out as a simple site-project (pun intended). But that doesn't mean it ain't different. Here's how:

  • search function - just type what you are looking for (or what you want to leave)
  • handpicked list - instead of dozens of opportunities, kaizenware gives you a select few alternatives. Only the best from the best
  • categorized by occupation - a complete stack, whether you are looking for software for your business or for personal use (coming soon)
  • organized by ethical focus - are you looking for a more environmentally friendly approach? Or are you interested in your privacy? Kaizenware got you covered
  • unique software - ethical alternatives, I haven't found on any other list
